Todd D. Wachtel, a Levinson Axelrod, P.A. Partner in our Raritan office, recently secured a six-figure workers’ compensation settlement for a woman who slipped and fell while working at a manufacturing plant.
As stated in case documents, Todd’s client suffered a shoulder tear which required surgery. She was also diagnosed with avascular necrosis of the hip, a very serious medical condition that results from a temporary or permanent loss of blood supply to the bone, such as the restricted blood flow that can result from broken bones, dislocation, or other trauma. The condition causes bone tissue death that can lead to bone collapse.
Given the severity of his client’s condition, Todd pursued a resolution that included not only a lump-sum settlement but also terms that would protect her right to future medical care. Ultimately, Todd was able to negotiate a $117,000 settlement that will permit his client to receive future medical treatment and return to the Court should her injuries significantly worsen.
