Todd Wachtel, Esq., a Partner in Levinson Axelrod, P.A.’s Hillsborough office, recently settled a workers’ compensation case for Permanent and Total Disability for an injured nurse.
According to court documents, Todd’s client initially injured her wrist and arm lifting a chart. The injury developed into complex regional pain syndrome, and affected her entire body.
Due to her condition and the pain she experienced, she was unable to return to her previous job as a nurse, or perform any type of work at all.
Working with Attorney Wachtel, our client filed a workers’ compensation claim for Total Disability, which awards payments retroactively to the last time the injured worker received Temporary Disability benefits.
Thanks to Todd’s efforts, the injured nurse will receive compensation for what’s accrued to date, Total Disability benefits paid at $678 per week for the rest of her life, and medical benefits. It’s a significant victory for a health care provider who spent her career helping others, and who became unable to work and earn income following a work-related injury.
