A $1.5M settlement secured by Levinson Axelrod, P.A. Partner Brett Greiner was recently featured in the May 11, 2020 edition of the New Jersey Law Journal.
As reported in the NJLJ’s “Suits & Deals” section, Brett negotiated the settlement in March on behalf of a client who was injured after the vehicle she was traveling in was rear-ended by a tow truck. The wreck occurred as Brett’s client was stopped at a traffic light at an intersection.
As a result of the crash, our client was taken to a local hospital, where imaging tests revealed that she suffered injuries to her neck and shoulders. She underwent surgery to insert an artificial disc, and arthroscopic surgeries to address damage to both her left and right shoulder.
Though Brett’s client was able to return to work full-time for her employer – which continued to pay her salary while she was recovering from the crash – she continues to experience pain and limitations in the injured parts of her body.
Ultimately, Brett was able to negotiate a $1.5M mediated settlement paid by Zurich Insurance Co. one week before the case was scheduled for trial. As Brett tells the NJLJ:
“It was fair under the prevailing circumstances. The client was made whole for her pain and suffering insofar as monetary compensation can do that.”
