Pacific Cycle has recalled approximately 217,600 Instep and Schwinn swivel wheel jogging strollers following reports that the front wheel is at risk of becoming loose and detaching from the stroller during use.
The company issued the recall following 132 reports of front wheel failure, which resulted in a reported 215 injuries that included abrasions, bruises, bumps, head injuries, lacerations, and sprains. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s (CPSC) report didn’t give details on whether these injuries affected the children in the stroller, or to the people pushing the stroller.
According to Pacific Cycle, consumers should stop using their recalled jogging stroller. The company is not advising consumers to return their strollers; rather, they are issuing repair kits that should be used to properly secure the front wheel. Included in the repair kit are new warning labels. The repair video is available through the Pacific Cycle website.
The CPSC website lists 10 single and double-occupant strollers under the recall:
- Instep Safari Single Occupant
- Instep Safari Double Occupant

- Instep Grand Safari Double Occupant
- Instep Flight Single Occupant
